News 2018

We performed a Centenary Concert at East Knoyle Village Hall for the local Royal British Legion Branch. Our programme featured classic works featuring folk melodies familiar to the West Country recruits marching off to war. We also played a selection of popular singalongs, with contemporary music inspired by the lasting legacy of the Great War.

This was the last concert directed by Ed McDermott, formerly flute player and instructor with the Band of HM Royal Marines. We are sorry to part company with Ed, and grateful for everything he has done to guide the Band to a position of strength.

It was a privilege to lead and to perform at Salisbury's Centenary Remembrance. The photo says it all. We are grateful to Spencer Mulholland for this spectacular shot.

September 2018: the Band was commissioned by Lady Carnarvon to play for a multi-faith Service of Remembrance during the Heroes at Highclere weekend.

Just as we concluded the RAF March, a Mustang flew over to begin the air display - the timing was perfect!

During the service, the RAF memorial statue, carved from cedar, was unveiled.
